. . . is a method for assigning permissions in the infrastructure of an organization. Access control can be applied to files, services or applications. The special feature of the term RBAC is the word “role-based”. Access rights are assigned on the basis of defined roles (or a role model). Such a role model can be derived from departments, cost centers, locations or the function of an employee. This model for access management is implemented in many environments, such as Microsoft Windows Server Active Directory, in the Linux operating system Solaris or in the Azure Active Directory area.
The Oxford Computer Group offers flexible and scalable RBAC solutions in the Identity & Access Management sector. The IDABUS Identity Solution for cloud and hybrid environments supports RBAC modeling and calculations out of the box. In on-premises environments, on the other hand, an RBAC extension developed by us for the MIM Sync Service is used.
